Luwak Blend is a limited edition coffee by ABBAMART Collections, a grocery store located in Banyuwangi, East Java. It’s a grounded and natural coffee with spicy, dark chocolate, long after taste, and delicate texture from wild luwak.

Coffee from Luwak or Asian palm civet is special due to its original production method as civets’ digestive system has unique microflora, which gives the coffee beans health benefits like cancer and heart disease prevention, mood improvement and energy boost. Digestive enzymes give Luwak coffee a chocolate and caramel-like flavor.

In the 19th century, Dutch colonial plantations in Indonesia prohibited native farmers and workers to pick coffee fruits for their own use. However, locals quickly learned to enjoy their natal land’s celebrated coffee by collecting undigested seeds from the droppings of luwaks. The Dutch plantation owners soon caught on to the rare, exquisite coffee that locals named Luwak coffee after the animals, and popularized it ever since.

The illustration on the package design is inspired by the natural attractiveness of the arabica coffee plant, equipped with a separate sleeve that depicts the variation of the coffee. In this Luwak Blend edition, the additional sleeve illustrates the Luwak and the ornament of Gajah Oling from the batik of Banyuwangi. Inside the sleeve, there is an explanation of the unique process and the history of Luwak Coffee.
